The Last Mountain Farmers in the Carpathians
Only a few mountain farmers are still leading an archaic life in the Carpathians, far away from roads and the archievements of modern time. The place is called Obcina, well hidden and is reachable only by foot. Family Cut, father, mother and son are living on top of the mountain. The father's rare skills in botchering are well known in the valley. Their modest survival is garantueed by their animals which are likewise their only wealth. In autumn the Cuts already have to prepare themselves for the long winter months. Flour, salt, sugar and other things have to be organized on the market. About seven famlies are living in Obcina during summer. In winter all the other farmers are leaving the inhospitable mountain place. Only family Cut is staying. They affront the cold in their little farmhouse.
